Last week saw a break from the Torbay R.G.B Snooker League as the first Round of the Dennis Andrews Cup was played, with last years winners Preston Cons B falling at the first hurdle as they lost by 127 points to St Annes B.
Andy Neck compiled a break of 117 in the fourth frame for Premier side Riley’s A, but ended up on the losing side as they failed to pull back their 275 point handicap as they lost by 25 points to Division One side Torquay Squash D whom Ben Pitts scored a break of 47.
Premier leaders St Annes F where made to work hard for their win as they had to come from 165 points behind, and was still 47 points behind going into the final frame, but anchorman Darren Smith compiled breaks of 32, 32 and a 36 clearance to seal the victory against an unlucky Paignton Cons A who lost by 30 points.
Alan Tunney scored a break of 38 in the opening frame, whist Ed Armitage scored a break of 34 and James Lee scored a break of 32 as Premier side Riley’s Q came back from a 260 point handicap to beat Second Division paces setters Preston Cue H by 189 points whilst Preston Cue F came back from giving a 85 point start to beat Division Two side Roundham B by 103 points.
Locock Cup champions Preston Cue G are safely through to the next round as they held on to their 30 point advantage to beat Premier side Brixham Cons A by 39 points whilst Upton Social A came back from giving a 60 point start to beat Division One side Preston Cue E by 124 points.
Division One side Torquay Squash A failed in their attempt to pull back a 35 point handicap as Division Two side Riley’s Z held on to their handicap to win by 24 points to go into the draw for the second round whilst Division One side Torquay Squash C came from 35 points behind to beat Division One side Brixham BL A by 89 points.
Palace Place B pulled back their 30 point handicap to beat Kirkham Street A by 60 points despite the efforts of Kirkham’s Frank Noakes who won the last frame by 78 points whist Preston Cons C went through to the next round as Torquay Squash B suffered because their last player failed to turn up which cost them the match as they where in front up to the fourth frame in a disappointing finish to a close match.
In one of the closest matches of the night, Preston Cue D held onto their 25 point advantage as Lee Mc Arthur junior won his two frames by 96 points, but Riley’s D Jordan Whittaker made up 54 points in his frame and with other frames going Riley’s way, Preston Cue’s anchorman Bradley Kenney held his nerve to pot the final black to win the match by 12 points.
Division One leaders Riley’s E pulled back a 70 point disadvantage to beat division two side Preston Cue C by 53 points whom Eric Cousins won the opening two frames whilst Teignmouth BL B held onto their 15 point advantage as they beat Brixham Cons B by 16 points whilst St Marychurch B could not hold onto their 20 point advantage as they lost to Hookhills C by 30 points.

Torbay R.G.B Snooker League week 12
Premier
At the top of the Torbay R.G.B Snooker League, last week’s leaders Riley’s Q slipped a couple of places to third as they had a free week whilst St Annes F moved back to the top of the table by three points as they thrashed sixth placed St Annes B 6-0 for the second time this season.
Andy Astin compiled a break of 56 and Andy Neck scored a break of 45 as Riley’s A moved up a place to second as they came back from losing the opening frame to beat seventh placed Brixham Cons A whilst fourth placed Teignmouth BL A fell further behind the leading trio as they won the final frame on the final black to draw 3-3 with ninth placed Central Cons C who are still looking for their first win of the season.
Newton Cons A stayed in fifth place as they lost the last frame to draw 3-3 with bottom side Preston Cue F who are only two points adrift of safety from relegation whilst Preston Cons B stayed in eighth place as they lost the last two frames to draw 3-3 with tenth placed Upton Social A.

At the top of Division One, Riley’s E took over the top spot as Ray Little compiled breaks of 30 and 24 in their 5-1 win over ninth placed Palace Place B whom Matt Moore scored a break of 24 in the fifth frame and still lost whilst last weeks leaders Preston Cue G slipped a place to second and a point behind the leaders as they won the final two frames to snatch a priceless 3-3 draw with bottom side Preston Cons C who where unlucky to record their third win of the season.
Darren Atkins compiled a 27 clearance in the fourth frame as third placed Torquay Squash D came back from losing the opening frame to beat sixth placed Torquay Squash C 4-2 whilst fourth placed Torquay Squash A closed in on the teams above as they beat tenth placed Torquay Squash B 5-1 who remain two points adrift of safety from the relegation places.
Andy Wharton scored a break of 24 in the opening frame as fifth placed Paignton Cons A recorded their fourth win of the season as they beat Brixham BL A 4-2 who moved up a place to seventh despite the defeat whilst Preston Cue E slipped a place to eighth as they had a free week.

At the top of Division Two, Julian Nash scored two breaks of 22 and Richard Wigston compiled a break of 27 as leaders Riley’s Z stretched their lead at the top to three points as they beat tenth placed St Marychurch Cons B 5-1 whilst second placed Brixham Cons B fell further behind the leaders despite beating sixth placed Riley’s D 4-2 whom Matt Helley scored a break of 25 in the fifth frame.
John Alberici scored a break of 21 in the third frame as Kirkham Street A continued their climb up the table as they reached third place after beating fifth placed Preston Cue H 4-2 whilst Teignmouth BL B slipped a place to fourth as they lost 4-2 to Roundham B who moved up a place to eighth after the defeat.
Preston Cue D fell a place to eighth after having a free week whilst Hookhills C stayed in ninth place as Stuart Mullen compiled a 22 clearance in the opening frame and they won the final two frames on black balls as they beat bottom side Preston Cue C 4-2.

Teams are reminded that matches start at 7.30pm and the open card is used (home teams to put their names down first with away team allowed to match names), all names need to be entered at the beginning of the match and all Divisions play six frames in the Summer Season.
Result cards need to be received by first post Monday morning, late cards will result in a deduction of two points per late card, after three late cards their will be monetary fines as well as points deduction.
